(without investing any more money)
I’ll tell you in a minute, but this gives you a clue:
As you can see, they really want you to reply.
Compare that with the way most people ask for a reply.
Hopelessly limp lines like “we look forward to hearing from you”.
No urgency. No promise. No warning of what you’ll miss not replying.
In short, no clue.
But why did I show you that copy?
Three reasons.
1. That copy dates back to the last great recession. People had to fight to sell. If you follow the news you know this recession is far from over.
2. You are going to have to fight to sell. Copy that fights to sell costs no more than copy that doesn’t. And that’s how you make more money without investing more money.
3. It doesn’t matter whether you run your own business, or you write or review copy, those facts apply.
If all that makes sense to you, please re-read the copy I quoted above.
It explains why you should give AskDrayton a try.
Best
Drayton
I would like a clue as to what you want me to do and what’s in it for me?
I think I was suggesting you try AskDrayton with the idea that money would be in it for you.
I guess that’s why the html link is there: to click through and find out.
Thanks Drayton. That really makes it clear that too often, we write (and see) a “call to action” which is just too soft! Let’s just be clear. Also, Greg … Really dude? I guess you were kidding, right?
Probably to click through and leave a comment here, Greg. Let us know if it worked.
Spot on, Drayton.
The fight never changes only the people fighting it. Trained or untrained it’s going to be a war. At war’s end it was a fight over dollars. The war is lost.
Blimey, Ismael, I think I’ll go back to bed.
Great I sell fantastic beds! Get one NOW!!! If you don’t, you’ll lose out on your best sleep EVER!!! Wink, wink 40 times over… don’t lose ANY more sleep. Not ever

Perfect.
Thanks for that. It’s just what I need for an ad I’m writing for my self defence club.
Like my fighting and instructing style, blunt and to the point.
Drayton, thanks for posting this one.
I like it’s short, punchy style – and I’d have to agree that I do like it.
Cheers, James
What year was this Drayton and from where did you pull this? Thanks. Great copy.
Dave
It was in the 1950’s – no idea what year or even where I saw it, at least 15 years ago. I have such a large amount of stuff and I’m forgetful
Thanks for the timely reminder, Drayton!
Seven lines
Sorry to be so slow; as I’ve explained to others everything – AskDrayton, our website, our email – was screwed up by Hostgator for a couplw of weeks. What is seven lines?
John Hale, I hope your writing skills are better than your numeracy – count again!
As usual Drayton, you give us free information, which is much more valuable than most of the paid crap out there.
Oh and Greg, You really were kidding – what a joker!
My in box was full of unopened messages this morning, some of them from co-workers, some of them sales pitches of varying degrees of cleverness from competitors (because, of course, I subscribe to all their e-mails). But the first one I opened was Drayton’s.
As one of my graduate school instructors used to say, “Simple solutions work best.”
P.S. I’m already a subscriber to Drayton’s video series, which contains at least graduate degree’s worth of knowledge, wisdom, information, and wit.
Thanks, Lawrence
Spot on. Great CTA.
